Joshua: Listen to the wall
📍
Welcome to the Living Covenant Podcast, where we journey through the messy human stories of the Old Testament explore what it means to live in covenant with a promise keeping God. I'm your host, Zanita. Let's dive in.
welcome to the podcast. Thank you for joining me. We obviously, as you know, we're recording at South Pacific for Christ, which is, a global initiative that happens every five years- Mm-hmm ... to refocus the church members on mission. Mm. Have you, like, learnt anything from the workshops or has anything stood out to you so far?
Yes. I attended, uh a workshop that talked about or that shared about how we can build and cross bridges to bring Muslim, brothers and sisters to the cross.
Hmm.
Yes.
Awesome. Nice.
So that, that really stood out to me because in Fiji we have a lot of, uh, Muslims and as many of us will relate to, they are hard people to introduce Jesus as God to.
Yeah.
So this, that workshop was really awesome for me. I really enjoyed it. Hmm. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, 'cause how many, what would be the percentage of Muslims in Fiji?
I'd reckon almost, uh, actually jumping up to almost 50%,
I'd say. Oh, wow. Yeah. Okay. Solid.
They're a growing religion.
Yeah. Uh, I didn't even introduce you.
Um-
Sorry. Yeah ...
welcome to to the podcast Dawn Ravulu.
Ravulo.
Ravulo.
Yeah.
Ravulo. From Fiji.
I'm from Fiji.
Yeah. Thank
you so much for having me. I'm so happy to be here.
Yeah. It's awesome. Mm-hmm. Um, what's life like for you in Fiji? What do you do? What do you do for fun?
So what's life like for me? I'm a full-time minister at the Suva South Central Zone 1.
Of course, that's for the, uh, SDA Church, that's our zone area.
Hmm.
And I look after about six churches and- Solid ... one, and I'm chaplain as well for the university students all across Fiji
That's a lot
Oh, yeah, it's, uh, it's a lot. But I thank the Lord for giving me good health and, uh- sound mind, so to say.
Yeah,
yeah. Yeah. You obviously must enjoy it, I'm guessing.
I love it- Yeah ... because I'm dealing with people within my age bracket. By the way- Mm ... I'm only 23 years old. So I love hanging around people my age and inspiring them-
Yeah ...
to, uh, you know, to do what's right, and that's to follow Jesus.
Mm. Mm-hmm. Are people quite receptive to Christianity in Fiji?
Oh, yes. Yeah. They are receptive to Christianity. Um, you, you asked the question what I like to do in my free time as well. I, I love to do, content creating.
Mm.
I also do a podcast, that is focused on solving social issues. I also do a bit of, web designing as well-
Awesome ...
on my spare time.
So there's a big project that I'm working on, and that's what I like to do.
Yeah.
Playing, yeah, sometimes.
Ministry, podcasting, social media stuff, marketing. That's a
Yes, I love
it ... bit of a collection.
Mm-hmm. It's
good. It's great. Well, let's talk about this book. You haven't got a copy yet 'cause it's just come out.
I don't, no. But you wrote for us in the Living Covenant series. You're a published author officially. And you wrote for us on the story of Joshua. Why did you choose Joshua to write about?
I chose Joshua because, his journey, I resonate well with . You know, he followed Moses around. Mm-hmm. I came from a pastoral family, though my dad wasn't a pastor, I would follow ministers around.
And, it would Helped me to learn a lot of lessons and, taught me as well how to conduct myself in certain areas and, how to best represent Christ in everything I do.
Hmm.
Mm-hmm.
It's awesome to hear that kind of story 'cause I feel like often you hear people say things like, "Oh, live and learn," kind of thing.
Mm-hmm. Learn from your mistakes. Which I think is quite poor like advice- ... 'cause it's, I think it's so awesome when you have good role models around you who, you know, teach you how to avoid those things or teach you how to live well so that you don't have to experience - Mm
pain, suffering.
Yes.
Well, you still will, but less of it.
Yes.
You know what I mean?
That's right. That's right.
And Joshua's story is quite good because the story of when he was instructed by God to go and take over the city of Jericho, now that was something big for him.
Hmm.
Myself, to become a minister, that's something big for me as well. It was not an easy decision and-
Hmm ...
was well stated as well, I mean, the article. So, that's why I, I love the story of Joshua.
Yeah. Hmm. Yeah, I wanna get back to like your own experience and your own walls in a minute.
But I think it'd be good first to kinda go through the story of Joshua. I feel like in the Old Testament a lot of people don't know the stories that well. They kinda know a fact or two. Like we all know that, you know, Joshua followed Moses, and we know the verse- Yes ... "Be bold and courageous," but it's like- Yes
we don't really know a lot of the time-
Mm-hmm ...
what the story is about. So talk us through that. You said that God instructed Joshua to do- Mm-hmm ... something.
Yes.
What did he tell him to do? Sometimes when God tells people to do things in the Bible, it's either very vague or it's very specific.
Mm-hmm. Yes.
So talk to us about what, what God told him to do.
Yeah, so- The children of Israel are now going into the Promised Land. They've already crossed over. And at this point, Joshua chapter 5 and chapter 6, they clearly state the situation that was happening right now. Okay, we are there now, then what?
What are we gonna do?
And so God says, "Okay, you go to that city there. You're gonna take over it." And this city is well-known because it has big walls. And, uh, big walls were, you know, security. And the stronger your walls are, the more secure the people within those walls can be. So it was a big task-
Mm
for Joshua. And I'm pretty sure, Joshua had his generals, he had his people who would come and advise him, counsel him. And probably part of the advice would be either to burn, to throw a stone at it, or, you know, they didn't have dynamites back then. So it was just all these plannings. However, however, the Bible doesn't state it, but these are potential things that would be going through their minds because these are potential things that would be running through our mind.
Yeah. We start to come up with our own solutions. But God gave them three solutions that were specific, I'd say.
Mm.
And, uh, that was to, yes, march around the walls seven, uh, times, one time per day. Yeah. One time per day. And except for the seventh day, they are to march around the wall seven times.
And then after they finish marching around the wall seven times, then they can shout. Now, mind you, I didn't say it earlier on, while they're marching around those walls from day one, day two, day three, day four, day five, day six, and, uh, till the sixth time on day seven, they are quiet. They are not saying a word.
Mm.
They're just doing ... They're just marching around. And, you know- I like, what kind of solution is that? It was so, it's so unusual. It's strange.
Yeah
Right? I mean, what would, what would you be thinking if you were marching around? So yes, th- those were the instructions that God gave to Joshua. And the people of Israel, they had no other choice but to listen.
Mm.
And that's a good quality that they had. Listen to the voice of God.
Mm.
And, uh, we, we can talk about it more but just briefly, now that's the context. Now that's the whole story. And then on the seventh, time they marched around when it was over, they finally stopped and then they shouted, and they blew the horns, the rams' horns.
Mm.
And it made a loud noise, and those walls just crumbled down.
Mm.
Amazing story.
Yeah. So insane.
Yes.
Well, it's interesting that you said, though, that they w- didn't make a noise. Like, it's the most unviolent battle in-
I
know ... the
universe. I like that.
Yeah But I'm sure that they would've heard a lot of noise from the people in Jericho.
The people in Jericho probably would've been like, "What are these guys doing? This is insane."
Wonderful
point. Yes ... a bunch of tossers. Like, they would've been hearing a lot of noise from them, but they've obviously got enough trust in God to be able to ignore that and keep going, 'cause-
Yes
yeah, that would've been really hard. It's an awkward situation. And, and I'm sure they all thought at times, "Yeah, what are we doing?"
True. Some of them may have been, you know, like, "Wait, what are we doing?" Then they're like, "No, shh, just keep quiet. Just keep marching." Yeah "Just keep marching." But you mentioned something very interesting, the noise from the outside.
Mm.
That, that was something that they probably had to battle. You know, I would battle with that if I was doing the Lord's will and people are making fun of me. Yeah You know, which I have already experienced. And that's another story for later.
Mm.
But yes, these are the experiences that the people of Israel had to go through.
Mm.
And that, they, that's the promised land. They were there to, they were there to take the- Reclaim
their
land Yes. Yeah. To ret- yeah. To claim it.
Yeah. It's, I think it's something that we all have to deal with is, we have the noise of the world, we have the noise of God, and it's like the noise of the world is, obviously louder.
So we have to be very intentional about-
Absolutely ...
listening to God- Yes ... and-
Yes ...
choosing what to listen to almost. But- Um, yeah, so the wall came down. Amazing. Did- The
wall came down ...
did they go back into their land? What happened after? Is that kind of the story of Joshua wrapped up or?
Good, good, uh, question.
So what happened after that was that they, they were told by God to take over everything, to overtake everything over there, and to burn it all. And they were instructed to not take anything from the area, but just dump it all.
Mm.
The treasures, the loot, everything like that, they want to take it with them.
Mm.
And yeah, then we'll transition to another story of of course, um, Achan.
Yeah ...
Achan's, uh, mistake, which he disobeyed God, and that resulted in, the loss of their next battle-
Mm ...
a battle with, uh, AI. Not artificial intelligence- Yeah ... but, uh, Ai, Ai. Yeah,
so to say. Yeah, not yet. Yeah . We'll deal with that battle later.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, okay. And you said in your article, you made a cool point actually that archeologists have discovered the remains of the walls.
Yes, that was something, so profound, you know? Archeology proves or, yes, proves that this event happened.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
Which is so cool.
Yeah, so it's historically proven too.
It's not a fiction, uh-
Yeah ... story ... they found, -
Yeah, evidence ...
remains of the walls in that exact region- Yeah ... and carbon-dated it back to Joshua's time.
Exactly.
Yeah, which is awesome. In your article you talk about some of the walls that you've come across in your own life. You said that the first wall that you thought of was in San Francisco.
Um
Yeah. So- When I wrote the article, it was, it was just, you know, I was thinking about walls What
were you doing in
San
Fran?
Uh, I was just there for the holiday.
Yeah, cool. And you came across this wall. Do you remember what it said?
Yes, it said, "Listen to this wall."
Yeah. "
Listen to the wall. Listen to the wall"?
Yeah. And when I saw that, I was quite puzzled.
Yeah.
I took a photo of it. I have no idea why I took a photo of it. And I was wondering, you know, "What's this photo going to be, used for in the future?" And I didn't know later down the line.
This was, mind you, back in end of 2023 I was asking myself, "Okay, where is this thing going to be useful?" Yeah. And then I think 2025, you know, I believe 2025, that's when this, article was written. Yeah. Yeah. And then I, when I got the chance to write the article, it totally just hit me back on the head
and I was like, "Oh, yes." That first wall. Yes. Listen to the wall. And, it spoke volumes to me when I wrote the article.
Mm.
Because, um, many a times we, look at the walls in our life, and walls, you know, to me it represents barriers and it represents, like what you mentioned, outside noises.
Mm.
These are things that hinder us from, doing what the Lord wants us to do. So if you wanna listen to those barriers, if you're gonna listen to those walls, I'd say you're gonna be, you're gonna be like a leaf in the water just swaying this way. Wherever the water flows, you're just going with it.
But if you're gonna be grounded in the sound from God- the noise from God or the word, so I'd say, not noise, you'd be like a rock-
Mm-hmm ...
in the river. A large rock, you know? It stands firm.
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Stable and secure.
Stable and secure, yeah.
Yeah, it's a good analogy. Mm-hmm. I think, if you listen to the noise from, the world or the wall or whatever you wanna call it, you get so many, like, conflicting responses.
One person tells you this, another person tells you this. This- Absolutely ... this article tells you this, this article tells you this, and it can be, overwhelming, so it makes sense that you would, just be, drifting around like a leaf.
Yeah. But
I guess that's the cool thing about, the voice of God is it's consistent and, - Exactly
it doesn't change. Mm-hmm. And it hasn't changed for forever. Um, so there's, a security or a solidarity in that.
That's so true.
Mm-hmm.
Exactly.
But tell us about, like, when you saw this wall in San Fran, what were the walls in your own life that you-
Mm-hmm ...
were kinda battling with?
One of the many walls that I was battling with was, I'd say mental health.
Mm-hmm.
I just finished from Fulton. There were so many responsibilities I took when I was in Fulton. And as a young boy, it was taking a toll on my character, my behavior.
Mm-hmm.
And, uh- Like the
pressure of
it all. Yes. And the performance.
So it was difficult for me, to process things, I'd process things very well, but the output, how I'd approach people, how I would do people, you know, the tone and all of these things, it wouldn't be well accepted by others. Mm-hmm. And I thought I was right, and in reality, I was just being too rude, you know, in a way.
So these were... This is one of the walls. But the wall I mentioned in the, article was finances.
Yeah.
As a university, know, as a tertiary student- your fees are not cheap. So I came from a family not well off, and we were- You
had eight siblings, is that right?
Um, family of eight.
Yeah.
Um, so including my parents.
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, including my parents. So there's six of us
and then my parents. And we only have,
uh, yeah-
One source of income that's coming from my dad during that time. And, finances was really tough. That was a major wall that I had faced.
And so I was wondering, "Lord, like, how can I do this?" A lot of things were going in my mind. You know, as I was watching Facebook and all these Instagram videos, people telling me, "Oh, do you wanna, do you wanna get all this money?" You know?
Mm. "
Do you wanna make a difference in your family? Do you wanna do this?"
You know, that's all that I wanted, ? I wa- Yeah ... I wanted all of that. As a young boy, I'm so ambitious. I'm trying to- Mm ... trying to get out of that, financial struggle And so I was like, "Yes, yes, I wanna do this. You gotta be disciplined. You gotta do this. You gotta take these three steps.
Follow, buy my book. You will get all the..." All of these- Yeah ... things. And those were things I was searching for. But then it echoed in my mind what my parents would tell me back then, and they still do today. Matthew 6:33. They would say, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."
So two voices-
Mm ...
one from the Word of God and one from the world. Yeah. Who do I listen to?
Mm.
At that point in my life, I hit rock bottom. There's nothing I can offer. I said, "Lord, um, this is... I don't have a lot of money. Um, the, the work I'm, you know, I'm already stressed out where I'm at. Lord, I'll, I'll just devote my life to you
i'll, I'll, I'll, I'll trust you."
I'll trust you." Just like Joshua, you know? I'm pretty sure a lot of ideas would be going in his mind. But to do what the Lord says, was the decision he made. Mm. And I decided, "Okay, I'll make that decision as well."
Mm. That's a real surrender, I suppose because-
Yes.
There's so many ways to build wealth. There's so many things you can do.
But, uh- ...
there's so much, yeah ...
I was a young boy, you know. I had a lot of, uh, energy. Though I was, you know, mentally drained, but I could, I could motivate myself to just go. Because the reason why I- Mm ... the reason why I was going through all of this mental, uh, , issues and this and that, it was just the stress and the pressure.
The reason why I could do it, because I kept pushing myself.
Mm. "
I can do it. I can do it."
Yeah.
So I had that, you know, I had that vibe going or I had that mentality that, "Okay, whatever it is, I'm willing to take it up." But to follow the Lord and to surrender everything and to seek Him first-
It's hard
uh, it was hard.
Yeah. Yeah, I think going back to what you said as well, you were talking about how when you went online you got all these videos of how to be rich, how to make money- ... how to do this, how to... Which is funny because it's like I don't get that on my feed. I get, I get the opposite almost.
I get like this trend or that trend or this, I don't know, whatever. Almost I get the stuff to spend money and you get the money to make money. But I think it's just interesting 'cause it's like what you get on your feed is catered to like probably your desires, your weaknesses, your interests.
Yeah. What I get is catered to mine. I don't know if, if that's just life or that's the devil kinda playing on our, our weak points. Yeah, I reckon, I reckon that- But it's so in our face-
Yeah ...
sometimes or probably more so now than ever, but.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or could be the algorithm as well, you know?
Who knows? Yeah,
exactly.
Targeted ads, this and that. Yeah. You know, I don't wanna get too technical, but that's, those are the type of contents I've been seeing like all day, you know?
Yeah.
I get na- you know, videos of people with big names, businessmen, CEOs. They're like, "Da, da, da, da, da," you know? Those voices.
Mm-hmm.
Well, I guess it's something that, you know, interested you, so your algorithm would know that-
Yes ...
you pause and linger on those things- Mm-hmm ... more than...
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, so it kind of is a bit of a trap. But- Um, you said that you, were kinda like, "Well, I'm gonna trust God."
Yes.
From that point did you just stop
because, you know, I think sometimes people think, "Oh, I'm gonna trust God," and they think that means fully stepping back and kind of-
Hmm ...
not doing anything. But I don't think that's always what God calls us to. Yes. Yes. Um, what did that look like for you? How did you navigate those-
Those, uh, those extremes.
Yeah ...
gray lines
or- I don't wanna be too- Yeah.
Yeah,
yeah. So there was a video I came across, a reel actually, and this guy was saying like, "God will steer the boat, but you must row."
Hmm.
Yeah? So something like that. Love it. You know, God must steer the boat... God will steer the boat, but you must row. And, uh, that was something like interesting for me.
Uh, as a young man- To trust in God was to also do my effort. I have to do my work. I have to put in the studies. You know, I have to do my part and let God do the rest.
Hmm.
My parents like to say that. Uh, "You do your best and let God do the rest."
Love it.
And that was a principle that I've taken with me till today, and I know I'll take it with me onwards.
Um, because ever since I've practiced that, applied that in my life, you know, it's just been amazing. Life has just been amazing. And yes, the Book of Proverbs have a lot of, to young people or people as well, uh, older people, on how we are to navigate within those gray areas. You know, we can't be lazy.
We can't wait and then expect things to come to us. We gotta be intentional.
Hmm.
We gotta make plans. We gotta prepare ourselves as well. And that's what it's like to trust in God. But, and then it's also, like, preparing yourself and praying about it and, screening your decisions using the word of God.
Hmm. You
know? This is something. For me, this is how I screen myself, especially when I am becoming too overambitious. You know, that temptation to become overambitious is always still there. So this is how I screen myself. I look at the word of God, and then I see does it match with the decision I'm going to make for this.
Hmm. And then I realize, and then, no. I also check my motives. Is my motives to only help me- Hmm ... or is it to help others as well?
Yeah.
And if it's to help me, I just automatically disqualify it from my mind.
Hmm.
But if it's to help others, then it stays there, and then I work towards it. And then it also has a missional drive to it. Hmm. How will what I'm planning to do bring others to Jesus? Yes.
So good. Yeah. So you got, like, a few pointers to check yourself and-
Yes ... read
that. That's awesome. That's really helpful.
Mm-hmm.
You did talk about in your article how, when you kinda surrendered to God, it's not like everything just went perfectly.
You talked about how you got really sick. You, continued to struggle with mental health things. You did some things that you weren't super proud of. Um, you're obviously not in that place now, so you've kinda come through that, but-
Yeah, yeah ...
how'd you hold on and keep trusting through those moments when things seemed to be going wayward?
Hmm. Thank you. Very good question. No, those problems that I faced, those-- I guess I wanna clarify in one part of the article I mentioned mental health. I was going through a lot of pressure. And then potential moral downfalls.
Mm.
I mentioned that. It was just, you know, when you give your life to God and the devil just throws everything at you because he wants...
So, like, potentially, you know, I would have fallen into those things.
Mm.
Because it w- it was, it was crazy. It was really bad how things, turned out to be. The devil just started showering so many things around and it's-
Yeah ...
it was so crazy and, uh, I had to just trust in the Lord, lean not on my own understanding, acknowledge Him in all things that I do.
And then from there, He just directed my paths in a way that I did not imagine, and He would Take me and he would, ... I, I felt that his hand would move me away from certain places And then when I'm right in the middle, I just have a epiphany that I realize like, "Hey, whoa, I need to get out of here.
Move." Then I disappear. Yeah. And then I realize, I, I say, you know, the Holy Spirit saved me from something really bad. Hmm. Yeah.
So you had to kind of buckle in and just trust for a period?
Yeah. So to say, like- Sorry, what was the question again?
Well, I, I guess I was asking, how you continued to trust in God when things weren't really going how.
I had to lean not on my own understanding.
Yeah.
Proverbs, uh, 3 of course. I followed that principle to the letter. So when you don't lean on your own understanding, then whose understanding do you lean onto? Of course, the Lord's understanding.
Yeah. His Word and inspiration from the Holy Spirit. And that's why I was so blessed because I could also hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, in my mind, telling me, "Hey, don't do that. Go here." "Take a rest. Don't be too hard on yourself." "Go spend time with family."
Mm.
Because I can be so, uh, like, absorbed with so many responsibilities here and there that I don't connect back with, ... my family, my friends, even with myself, because I'm losing myself in all this. It's just- Yeah,
yeah ...
shh. Yeah. So to say. Yeah.
You sound quite, uh, emotionally intelligent
like, you're quite aware of your motivations, your desires. But I feel like some people struggle just to identify the grips that certain things have on them, or they struggle to identify what their walls are in their life. So how, how did you... Are you just natural like that? Like, for people who don't know what the things are in their life that are holding them back or stealing their attention, how can they become a bit more aware?
I really, you know, I, I wasn't like this at all
Okay
I was lost
Yeah
At times I, I, I wouldn't know what I'm doing, where I'm at- Mm ... what's the motive, what's the result of this. But this came automatically after I would pray- Yeah ... and after I would, read the word of God and devote myself to God.
And He gave me wisdom. You know, I asked for wisdom. I always asked, "Lord, give me wisdom, give me wisdom- Mm ... give me wisdom. I need..." The request of Solomon. " You're going to give me people to lead. You know, please give me the wisdom that I need to lead these people."
Yeah.
And with that came the awareness of how things work, and also self-awareness. What am I doing, and what I'm not doing, and what I should be doing.
Mm.
These were the things that came after, intensive prayer, intensive Bible study. And yeah, with the Holy Spirit's, uh... You know, I, I didn't like reading.
I never liked reading at all. But the Holy Spirit, He got me into books, and I've been reading almost, every free time I get, I- Mm ... just like to read and read and read and read.
Mm.
And that has helped me as well regulate myself.
Yeah.
You know, regulate myself, my emotions, everything. And it's a whole nother de-
Mm
decision. But wherever I am, whatever I do, I'm intentional. You know, I weigh the risks. "Okay, if I do this, I'm gonna spend, less time with my mom or to talk with my dad and them."
Yeah.
And if I say, "Okay, if it's for a good cause, then okay, I'll take that sacrifice."
Yeah.
Yeah, there's so many resources that are available to us, like books obviously.
But it's so amazing also that we can just ask for, things like wisdom. Um - Yeah, that's
the problem, isn't it?
And yeah. Yeah. It's incredible. Um, so I think that's encouraging. Pray for wisdom.
Yeah.
So good. Um, obviously we've taken some time to look at the story of Joshua. But was there anything that stood out to you about God from reading Joshua's story?
Yes. What stood out to me was the title that was given to God.
Mm. Jehovah
Jireh, our provider. Jehovah Jireh in Hebrew That name is, we theologians, uh, call that Jehovah. Jehovah Jireh is rooted from the main name of God that the Hebrews use, the Tetragrammaton.
Hmm. Yahweh.
Yeah. Yahweh. And that name, has a past, present, and continuous, significance. So it, we can say is timeless.
Hmm.
When that, uh, name Jehovah-jireh was drawn from that Tetragrammaton, it would imply that not only is God our provider, but he has been providing for us in the past, and he will continue to provide in the future.
Mm.
The victories, the battles that, the Israelites had won, before the time of, Joshua were so many. And then now Joshua is in the present in his time in the chapters five and six. Now he's in his own present. And so that name, Jehovah-jireh, our provider, implies that, yes, God provided for us in the past-
Mm
he will provide for us today. Provide what? Provide victory. He provide our needs.
Yeah.
He provide the battle plans. That's what he will provide. And for the future, he will continue to do that. Whatever situation we will face, we need to trust, do our part, and know that God will provide because he's done that in the past.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
So good, yeah. You said that it means God has provided, God provides, and God will provide.
Yes.
And it kind of, I don't know if you've ever heard this song. It's called Same God. Have you listened to it? I think you'd like it. Yes. But it's all about this idea that basically sometimes when we read the Old Testament, we see these crazy things happen.
Mm-hmm.
And, like everybody who follows God finds themself at some point asking, "Why isn't He doing stuff like that today?" Do we really follow the same God? Are we really... is He still here? Does He still care? Mm. Is He still listening to us?
Yes, yes.
Um, but that song is basically just talking about how- Mm
the same God that showed up for Joshua, that showed up for Moses, that showed up for the Israelites, that showed up for all these people in the Old Testament, who we just- Yes ... are, like, wowed by, is the same God that we serve today, and-
Yes ...
is still providing and will provide in the future. Yes. Which
is awesome.
And because of that, I, I have a, I have a mission and a vision for myself because of that story and because of that title as well. My mission, my vision is to be an exceptional steward of the Lord, and my mission is to remember what God has done for me in the past-
Mm ...
and to trust Him what He will do in the future.
Mm-hmm.
And that was, that was rooted from the story and the title of God, to remember that that's what will keep me, keep me going. This is something that I just do personally to have my own vision, to have my own mission, where I would like to apply my things, my efforts and everything towards If businesses are doing it, why, why shouldn't we, right?
Totally. Yeah, yeah. Fully. Um, it's been, like you said, a year since you wrote this article.
Mm-hmm.
You're obviously very in touch with the story of Joshua, but has there been something that has stuck with you since then from when you kind of dived into it back when you wrote it?
Yes. What stuck with me was the
Of course, the faithfulness of God. Till today, you know, I'm here in Australia-
Mm ...
sitting with you in front of this, uh, you know, wonderful audience who's watching us and this is a testament to His faithfulness to me because of the decision that I made to surrender- Mm
to the Lord. You know, coming to Australia from Fiji is not an easy thing.
Yeah.
It's expensive, it takes a lot of time. And also there's a social effect that happens, when someone goes overseas, the whole family is away, you know, this and that.
Mm.
Uh, when you go back home, you have to go and bring something back with you.
You know, I think it's similar to everyone.
Mm. What are you gonna take? Tim Tams or-
Yeah, Tim Tams hopefully. Yeah. Maybe some, uh, s- peanut butter and Nutella, who knows?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Vegemite or something.
I'll be stoked, yeah. Carry on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, you know, Him bringing me here I'd say is a testament to His faithfulness.
And it assures me, it assures me that, where I am today, it's not the end.
Mm.
And God will continue to provide because He is faithful. Yeah. And all that I must do is to trust in Him, to stay faithful as well, and to lead people-
Yeah ...
to His kingdom. Yeah.
Beautiful. Love it.
Good place to land. Well, thank you for writing for us for this series. We've had a number of people from all over the Pacific Islands- Mm-hmm ... contribute to this, which has been great. But thank you. Thank you
so much for having me.
It's
been a pleasure. I really appreciate your work and, uh it was awesome. Thank you so much, Zanita.
It's good to do in person. Yes. A lot of it's been online.
I know, right. It's
nice. All right. Thank you. We'll end it. Cool.
All righty.
